Our mission is simple - to provide a wide range of tailored bioinformatics services to clients in both academia and industry.
We are fascinated by biology and the challenges that lay ahead in the post-genomic era, and believe that biology must take an integrative and non-reductionist scientific approach to capture the essence of life.
The ultimate challenge is to reveal the complexity of biological systems and understand how the different genotype-driven layers of organization at molecular, cellular, organismal and population levels interact with the environment to produce the phenotype. Callout biotech would like to be an active contributor to this challenge.
We know that despite the wealth of untapped knowledge that is left to be discovered from genomic data, it can be a challenge to convert those raw data files to real, interpretable results. That’s where we come in.
Our team is made up of computational biologists from varied fields with diverse research experiences. We are here to help you every step of the way, from coming up with a research plan, to developing a pipeline, running analyses to obtain results, and finally interpreting those results.
Founding story
“Never mix family and business?” Whoever said that was sorely mistaken! Siblings Kelsey and Derek Caetano-Anolles decided leave their careers in academia, combine their scientific skills, and found Callout Biotech at the beginning of 2019 with the goal of providing both analysis and science writing services for academic and industry clients. Kelsey and Derek agreed on one thing when starting Callout Biotech together- that the goal of the endeavor wasn’t about making money, but to better the pursuit of scientific knowledge and help their network of bioinformatics consultants. For that reason, they’ve vowed to pay themselves a 1-dollar salary for the first few years in order to make sure their consultants are getting a steady stream of income while the company takes off.
